Here’s my version of Bolognese sauce—100% homemade.

For the vegetables, I use fresh tomatoes, of course, but also bell peppers.

It’s very easy to make and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients for Ma sauce Bolognaise maison

  • Image de ground beef
    100 g of ground beef
  • Image de red bell pepper
    1 red bell pepper
  • Image de tomato
    500 g of tomatoes
  • Image de onion
    1 onion
  • Image de bay leaf
    1 sheet of bay leaf
  • Image de thyme
    1 branch of thyme
  • Image de rosemary
    1 strand of rosemary fresh, or if you don't have any, use whatever herbs you have in your spice drawer! Oregano, herbes de Provence...
  • Image de olive oil
    2 tbsp of olive oil
  • Image de salt, pepper
    salt, pepper

Ma sauce Bolognaise maison : instructions

  • 1
    Wash the bell pepper and cut it in half. Remove the seeds, rinse it, and then slice it into strips, which you’ll cut in half. Now for the onion: cut it in half, peel it, remove the core, and chop it into small pieces.
  • 2
    Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a wok or skillet, then add the bell pepper, onion, and herbs. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 3
    Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the ground meat to the pan and cook for another 5 minutes. Meanwhile, rinse the tomatoes, cut them into quarters, remove the seeds, and then cut them in half again.
  • 4
    Add the tomatoes to the pan, cover, and simmer over low heat for another 30 minutes, so they break down completely and the mixture thickens into a sauce.

Notes

Serve this sauce piping hot with a plate of spaghetti or tagliatelle, along with some grated Parmesan cheese.
