Here is my foolproof recipe for rum and orange punch, just like they make in the Caribbean, which I’ve made countless times for cocktail parties and celebrations.
Punch à l'Orange : instructions
- 1Wash the oranges thoroughly, then dry them. Using a sharp knife, peel the oranges in a spiral motion, removing only the zest.
- 2Put a liter of water in a saucepan with the orange zest and sugar; bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
- 3Split the vanilla beans open and scrape out the seeds with a spoon or knife. Squeeze the oranges to extract the juice; pour the juice into a mixing bowl, add the rum and vanilla, then stir to combine.
- 4Strain the boiling sugar water through a sieve; mix it with the rum and orange juice in a bowl.
- 5Serve immediately with a ladle.
