Turkish cuisine is one of the oldest and richest in the world, a legacy of the Ottoman Empire and several millennia-old civilizations. At the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, it offers exceptional culinary diversity, enriched by Greek, Arab, Persian, Balkan, and Mediterranean influences. This generous and convivial cuisine is distinguished by its balance between rustic simplicity and imperial refinement.

Among the iconic dishes are the famous kebabs, available in countless varieties (döner, şiş, Adana…), köfte (meatballs), pide (a type of Turkish pizza), dolma (stuffed vegetables or grape leaves), as well as hearty soups like mercimek çorbası (lentil soup) and slow-cooked stews. Börek, a savory pastry made with thin yufka dough, is also a must-try, as are mezze, small dishes served as appetizers or to share.




Typical ingredients include olive oil, mild spices such as paprika or cumin, fresh herbs (mint, dill, parsley), yogurt served cold or warm, chickpeas, eggplant, tomatoes, and legumes, as well as an abundance of grilled meats and seafood.

On the sweet side, Turkish cuisine is renowned for its Middle Eastern pastries such as baklava, lokum (Turkish delight), or kazandibi, as well as for its iconic beverages like Turkish black tea, Turkish coffee, or ayran, a refreshing yogurt-based drink.

More than just a collection of recipes, Turkish cuisine is a cultural experience, an art of sharing, where a meal is a sacred moment—often long and always warm. It embodies both Ottoman opulence and the rustic charm of the Anatolian countryside, offering an unforgettable sensory journey with every bite.
