Baking dish : Introduction

A baking dish is a kitchen essential, perfect for making casseroles, roasts, or hearty desserts. Available in a variety of materials, each with its own specific qualities, the choice of baking dish often depends on the types of recipes you plan to make. Glass, for example, is perfect for watching the food cook and works well for slow-cooked dishes or casseroles thanks to its even heat distribution. Ceramic, prized for its ability to retain heat, is ideal for gratins or desserts, offering even cooking and elegant presentation at the table.

Stainless steel dishes, on the other hand, are sturdy, withstand high temperatures, and are suitable for meats or dishes requiring intense cooking. Terracotta, often associated with traditional dishes, is ideal for slow-cooked preparations like tagines or confit vegetables, as it gently diffuses heat. Other materials like enameled cast iron allow for gentle cooking and are excellent for stews or slow-cooked dishes, while silicone dishes are practical for individual portions and easy removal from the pan.
