Blenders in the Kitchen: Overview and Buying Guide

A blender (which could be translated as "centrifuge" in proper French) is a very handy appliance for making smoothies, soups, sauces, sorbets, or fruit purees…

This blender consists of a container with blades at the bottom, mounted on a motor unit that drives the blades.

Food is blended very quickly, and when used at maximum speed, the mixture becomes smooth and slightly frothy—ideal for making delicious smoothies!

Buying Guide

When choosing a blender for your kitchen, several factors should be considered to best meet your culinary needs.

In terms of models, blenders can vary significantly. Blenders with glass jars are often preferred for their durability and resistance to odors, while models with plastic jars offer lightness and convenience. Compact personal blenders are ideal for smoothies on the go, while powerful blenders are suited for more demanding tasks like crushing ice.

When it comes to materials, blenders may feature stainless steel blades, ensuring optimal durability and cutting performance. Some models feature removable plastic parts, while others prioritize BPA-free materials for food safety reasons.

Before finalizing your choice, consider certain criteria. Motor power is crucial for a high-performance blender, especially if you plan to blend hard ingredients or ice. Choose a model with power suited to your specific needs.

The bowl capacity is a factor to evaluate based on the size of your household and the amount of food you plan to prepare. Some blenders offer bowls in different sizes for maximum versatility.

Ease of maintenance is a practical criterion that should not be overlooked. Choose a blender with removable parts that are easy to clean, preferably dishwasher-safe for hassle-free maintenance.

Finally, additional features can also influence your choice. Some blenders come with preset programs for specific tasks, such as making smoothies or hot soups.
