Ingredients

5 tbsp of nuoc-mâm sauce

1 tbsp of lemon juice or 1/2 tbsp of vinegar

1 tsp of sugar

1 tsp of ground chili pepper

1 pod of garlic thoroughly crushed
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a ramekin
Notes
- If you find the sauce too salty or too strong, add more lemon juice or vinegar and a little water.
- This sauce also goes well with all Vietnamese dishes and soups. It can be stored for several weeks.
- If you don’t like the taste of Nuoc Mam, you can replace it with soy sauce, which has a milder aroma but a completely different flavor.
- You can add a pinch of toasted sesame seeds and/or some grated carrots preserved in vinegar to this sauce.
