Empanadas de Carne

  • Peel and finely chop the onions. Sauté them in three tbsp of olive oil. When they become translucent, add the ground meat. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Once the meat is cooked, add the spices and herbs, along with the tomato paste and sugar. Stir and let it simmer for another 2–3 minutes over low heat.
  • Pour into a mixing bowl, then add the raisins and 200 ml of meat broth (made from a bouillon cube). Stir to combine. Let stand for 5–10 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (The mixture will absorb the broth, and the empanadas will be nice and juicy when you eat them!).
  • Preheat the oven to 250°C. Next, roll out the dough and cut out circles using a bowl. Fill them with the filling and seal the edges tightly. Brush with egg yolk before baking.
  • Serve with a tomato and onion salad, for example.
